Stop the Save Act
(aka: Silencing Americans Act)
The House of Representatives just passed the SAVE Act—and if it becomes law, it could disenfranchise tens of thousands of eligible voters right here in California. Common Cause, Indivisible, and other groups around the country are sounding the alarm because the impact on our state would be disastrous:
- 9,645,976 people in California don’t have passports or access to original documents—and could be blocked from registering to vote or updating their registration.[1]
- 7,033,264 married women in California could be disenfranchised simply because their legal names don’t match their birth certificates.[1]
- Thousands of California voters used online voter registration ahead of the 2024 election, which this bill would eliminate entirely.
It would also ban voter registration drives and mail-in registration—cutting off access for rural communities, students, and seniors in towns across California.
This is a direct attack on California voters. And if the Senate passes it, there’s no undoing the damage.
