DEREK TRAN FOR CONGRESS - CA 45

 A nearby Congressional district that is a potential swing district in the House is CA 45.  As configured post 2020 census, it is a Democrat+2 district. It covers the Orange County cities of Garden Grove, Westminster, Cerritos, and Buena Park as well as Huntington Beach and Seal Beach in LA County. The district is 38% Asian, 30% Hispanic and 25% White. The DCCC designated it as a Red to Blue district providing added resources.

The district is currently represented by MAGA Michelle Steel. She is a hard right politician who co-sponsored the Life begins at Conception bill in Congress. Since she represents a very split district, she cynically pulled her sponsorship earlier in this election year. Based on her voting record Rep. Steel will likely line up behind Project 2025 recommendations to limit reproductive rights, and LGBTQ rights.

Derek Tran is a Consumer rights attorney and U.S. Army Veteran whose family fled Vietnam after the war. He enlisted in the Army to give back to the country that took in his refugee family after the fall of Saigon. He was recently endorsed in the race by the LA Times. He has generated enthusiasm in the heavily Asian District with his compelling family story.
The clear choice in this district is Derek Tran. The money and ground game will be a huge factor in this race with unlimited dark money showing up to help the MAGA candidate.
